The Alberta Geomatics Group acts as a facilitator to promote geomatics innovations amongst the sectors and augment business development opportunities.
Established in 1999 as a not-for profit organization, the Alberta Geomatics Group (AGG) was formed to facilitate growth, awareness, and development of the Alberta Geomatics community. Activities of the AGG are guided by an elected Board of Directors: volunteers from the geomatics community of people sharing a common interest in how information about our physical world is gathered, stored, processed and delivered.
Our AGG community includes those learning, teaching, buiding, and applying geomatics knowledge and technologies and our stakeholders serve an increasing variety of enterprises in business and in all levels of government. In Alberta, this includes a focus in the areas of land surveying, cartography, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), global navigation satellite systems, photogrammetry, geography and related forms of earth mapping in energy, agriculture, and forestry.
